Steve McElwain

Mr. McElwain is a Partner in EPF, having joined the Firm in 2012. Prior to joining Apollo, Mr. McElwain was the Managing Director for Shinsei International’s European distressed business based in Frankfurt. From 2005 to 2010, Mr. McElwain served as General Manager for the International Principal Finance Division of Shinsei Bank in Tokyo, Japan where he led Shinsei’s international principal investments in distressed loan portfolios, opportunistic real estate equity and mezzanine debt across Europe and Asia. During his time at Shinsei, Mr. McElwain played a key role in the expansion of Shinsei’s principal investment businesses into new markets with the establishment, development and management of wholly owned, joint venture and third-party acquisition and servicing platforms in Tokyo, Frankfurt, Mumbai, Seoul and Taipei.
From 2000 to 2005, Mr. McElwain was a Senior Manager with Ernst & Young Asia Pacific Financial Solutions, based in Tokyo and Taipei, advising buyers and sellers of non-performing loan portfolios across Asia and in Germany. Mr. McElwain began his career as a consultant with Ernst & Young in 1998 and earned a BS and an MBA from the University of Arizona.
