Katarina Majić
Senior ESG Specialist, Erste Bank Serbia
With a Master of Arts degree in Environmental Policy from the Faculty of Political Sciences, Katarina boasts over two decades of involvement in environmental endeavours, showcasing her best effort from managing to actively participating in various ecological and social entrepreneurship projects. Her dedication to environmental causes extends to her role as a published author and reviewer of environmental literature for children. She has initiated numerous impactful environmental actions, leveraging her experience gained during her 19-year long tenure at the National Bank of Serbia as the insurance supervisor.
In her current capacity as the ESG Senior Specialist at Erste Bank Serbia, Katarina not only coordinates various ESG initiatives related to operational and portfolio decarbonization, Green Asset Assessments, Corporate Social Responsibility and Disclosure (CSRD), and physical risk, but also conducts ESG client assessments. She is responsible for ESG education, ESG strategy development (for which Erste Bank Serbia was awarded the ESG Leader 2024 recognition by PwC), and ESG reporting to external creditors.
Katarina has been instrumental in establishing the ESG portal aimed at shaping the Bank’s sustainable future, embodying her belief in the transformative power of sustainable practices for both the Bank and its employees.She is actively engaged as a lecturer on topics within the ESG realm.
Katarina’s expertise and commitment to sustainability were recognized when she was awarded the first prize for the best research paper on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda until 2030. This prestigious award was bestowed by the governments of Switzerland and Germany within the framework of the “Reform of Public Finances – Agenda 2030” project, implemented by GIZ.
Katarina believes that through collective action and unwavering determination, we can create a world where environmental sustainability is not just a goal, but a way of life, showcasing the best effort of individuals, and particularly emphasizing the strength of women.
